"बेड़ू पाको बारो मासा, नरणी काफल पाको चैत मेरी छैला"

According to Wikipedia it is an Uttrakhandi (for me, not Uttrakhandi but Kumauni) folk song which was written by Brijendra Lal Shah and first time came into existence in 1952.

Now the question is, why it is said "बेड़ू पाको बारो मासा" ?

Okay, let’s get started to find the answer.

"बेड़ू पाको बारो मासा, ओ नरणी काफल पाको चैत मेरी छैला"

The song is about a Kumauni woman, who is very keen to visit her maika (parent’s place) this vasant season, therefore she is trying to convince her husband about that. She is elaborating to her husband that why it is worth visiting her maika in this season because this is the time when Kafal (a Kumauni wild berry) ripen and it is not like bedu (a Kumauni wild berry) which can be eaten throughout the year.

I have gone a bit deeper into it by discussing to some of aama-bubus(Senior citizen) and come to a conclusion, as some people also wanted to know that like kafal, bedu also ripen in roundabout spring and summer season, then why it is said bedu pako baro masa( bedu ripen throughout the year)? So the conclusion is, there are two types of bedu first one is pakan bedu (ripen in summer) another one in adkan bedu (unable to ripen and is used as a vegetable). Latter, can be seen throughout the year and can be savored as a vegetable. Therefore the meaning of pako is ripen and cooks both.

If you are a student or a house wife or a differently abled or anyone who wish to work from home and want to make some extra money or to contribute in development of the country, Modi Government’s initiative, Digitize India Platform (DIP), can be an option for that.
Let me explain, concept behind this scheme is very simple, Government, NGOs, autonomous bodies etc. have abundance of data in physical form i.e. hand written sheets, forms and registers. Retrieving data from these physical form, in order to get important information, is a herculean task therefore to make that data digital, Government has made an online platform namely DIP where these data is processed and provided in the form of snippet online to convert into digital form, so we can say it is just an Online Data Entry Work thing.

If you wish to draw some money online, I am not saying you would be become a billionaire; however a decent amount of extra income can be drawn from this scheme and all you need is:

  1.      A Laptop or a Desktop or a Tablet or a Smart Phone which should be comfortable enough to enter data
  2.   Internet

After completing registration process now you are ready to make money online.
Now again go to homepage enter your user id/email id and password and you will come to a window.

Go to Workplace icon, and you will be provided with snippets (scan form of data) that can be hand written or typed now you have to type the data in given box precisely. You would be rewarded one point per character.

When I lost my everything in a storm
A storm of adverse situations
When even my own people left me behind
I had nothing to do
And I was about to sink
I recall, I was crying for help
That was you alone oh my Krishna
Who helped me out
And gave me the direction
And I came across my spiritual master,
Even though his body had departed
I feel his presence everywhere
He was His Divine Grace Prabhupada
And I did able to learn instinctively
That without you there is no master
And you can’t be attained without a master
I came to know that you were with me all along
from time immemorial
I was the one who was in oblivion
And my eyes were veiled with illusion
Illusion of material existence
His teaching made me to learn
That, there is only one supreme truth
And that is unquestionably, you
There is nothing beyond you
You are the one, you are the king
I am a sinner want to be your servant
I pray you oh my Lord
Never leave me alone
May, before liberation, I always get a chance to serve you
May I feel the love for you as my master did feel

Cessation of Tobacco : My Story May Help

My brother and some friends of mine insisted me to write a blog about how one can get rid of tobacco addiction i.e. smoking & smokeless, as earlier I used to devour tobacco in its almost every forms i.e. smoking, chewing Gutka and khaini etc. In addition to that there was a sense of social responsibility to share these experiences for welfare of humanity as every year more than 1 million deaths occur due to tobacco related diseases in India only.
4 year back when I visited AIMS Delhi to meet one my friend who was getting treated there, I came across some cancer patients. Some of them were suffering from mouth cancer and throat cancer. It was really that much horrific that I am unable to explain. Later one AIMS staff nurse told me that maximum of them having the diseases due to tobacco abuse. That day I realized that tobacco not only fatal but can makes one’s life a hell and that very day I decided to quit tobacco.
Now it’s almost 4 years since I took a last intake of tobacco in the form of a cigarette, I also want to share another fact that I had been taking tobacco for approximately 10 years. Therefore today I would like to share my experience in below generalize points:
1. In order to get rid of tobacco first you have to make a plan with a timeline keeping below points in mind :
a. 1 day to 1 week: It’s a worst time for an addicted person as in this span of time, as nicotine level decreases a wide range of withdrawal symptoms appear. These are depressed mood, anxiety, headache, Nausea, Fatigue, drowsiness, and insomnia, Difficulty concentrating etc.
Therefore make a note that to start cessation choose the time when you have at least 2-3 days holiday or you are free from you work because it is difficult to concentrate on anything during this span of time.
b. 1 week to 1 month: This is the time when above symptoms can be persist; however severity of these symptoms decreases. Now you can go to your work ,you should keep one thing in mind though that this is the duration when you are prone to get the addiction again. You can feel a great craving of tobacco so avoid the situation which can trigger it again.
c. 1 month to 6 months: Be persistent, now this is the time to make your mind strong enough to be persistent in your decision. Sometime you feel a bit craving of nicotine but you have to make yourself understand that it’s not a permanent situation, some more days and you would be okay.
d. After 6 months: Now you would feel a lot of energy and you can savor the life. Now you can enjoy your meal with good taste. However avoid to reunion with tobacco user fraternity.
And as I did enjoy every above step you also can and celebrate these milestones.
2. In order to be persistent and to get positive energy to tackle with withdrawal symptom, you should start exercise; it can be a yoga session, a morning walk, a gym exercise anything. So make sure to be indulging in any of above exercise.
3. A piece of ginger, a flower bud of clove or even a green pepper can be chewed when you think that there is a great craving.
4. Make sure to have balance diet including green vegetables, seasonal fruits and lot of water. Water is very important for detoxification.
5. Keep yourself busy with your favorite work. It can be reading good literature, gardening, photography, writing, playing, anything which can make you engrossed.
Most of the cases there is no medication required, however it is suggested to start cessation firstly consult with your doctor.

Everything Okay

Everything Okay
Pic courtesy : Internet

I can see you as vivid as no one can see

Though we are very far from each other

Though it is not possible us to meet in this world again
But I can see you everywhere, wherever I see
I can recall you in my memories, passing my place with a flock of lambs
Beautiful lambs with innocent eyes
Every day I used to wait for these lambs
As they were the indication of your presence somewhere,
Somewhere near about me
You can’t believe, a glimpse of your lambs would make me feel amazed
As they were the angels of my love
After passing the flock of these lambs
every now and then, I would able to see a beautiful face
Of course, it was you
With sincerity in face
With luminous in eyes
With vibrant in forehead
With sweetness in voice
With intoxication in way of behaving
With mercy in act
With everything, which can make a human, God
Oh! I was just describing my love
Don’t be panic
Everything okay...

Make It Worth Reading

After a long silence
I want to speak

Really don’t know what to write
What to say
To whom to talk
To whom to share
Still there is something,
Which, I just want to share

I want to meet you in this very life
But is it possible?
I don’t know
May be never
Ultimate answer is no
Often people ask me
Every now and than
What is my story?
Why I am alone?
What is the aim of my life
Why am I alive
I really don’t have any answer
I really don’t have any answer
Even though there are people who love me
Even though there are people
Who might be expecting something form me
But what do I do?
Probably you know
I have been going through
A vast ocean of the pain,
The miseries,
The pain of distance...
The pain of emptiness
Whatever it is
Though, I always pray for you
May almighty give you everything
Because still, as now you are not mine,
Not belong to me,
Your smile still precious for me
So just give your all pain to me
And just smile once for me
Like fresh, white water flowing from a fountain
Like a fine morning just about to start
Like a bud is about to transform into a flower
Like birds are chirping
Like a cool breez is touching in a summer
Like sun rays are appearing from a cloudy sky in a snow full morning
And I promise I will be there for you always
Just turn back once
According to what in my mind
There would surely be some space inside your heart
Which would be dedicated to me
Is it?
I have tried to explain,
Tried to explain through words
Through text
However I know it is ineffable.
Inexpressible
What can be done?
There is only one way out
Just let it go
Live happily
As I told you earlier
Give all your sorrows to me
I am there always for you.
Whatever it is?
Come what may
I will be available for you always
Request you to read it
And make it worth reading
And make it worth reading....

Indeed, That Was The Heaven

Let me take you back to my early teen days.
Sanatorium, an ancient hospital established by britishers and dedicated to a highly contagious disease tuberculosis, where my father used to be employed as a cook. It was not just an ordinary hospital but bigger and more beautiful campus than one can imagine, which is situated outskirt of a small hill town Bhowali , 10 KM from a famous hill station Nainital.
Hospital had provided accommodation to every employee as per ones designation like Kothi (Bungalow) built in western style, for a doctor or an account officer and two room flat for clerical staff and one single room for 3rd  group employee. Whole residential area surrounded with a dense forest. The single rooms which were said to be stable where Britishers believed to be kept their horses before independence. I spent most of my teen time in one of those stable. Whatever it was! But we were very happy there in that place.
As everyone knows intense curiosity of an adolescent for everything, I was also curious about nature. I wanted to explore dense forest which cover the whole hill area of that place, I wanted to sit under that gigantic deodara (Cedrus deodara) trees in silence which I could have seen from my place, I wanted to touch crystal clear and cold water of that little river which was passed by that place and could have been seen from my very place; However, we kids were not allowed to go deeper into the woods. Wild beasts like tiger, panther, bear etc. were said to be lived there.
I wanted to go inside the forest and climb the hills; however , could not work up that much courage to go there and enjoy inside that dense woods until that day when my father was out for any work and was expected to get back late in the evening . That day at around 11.30 AM one of my dearest friend namely chota Manoj came to me and asked me to come with them as he and his parents were about to go up there to get grass for their cattle. It was nearly month of May. It was a nice chance, a fierce battle were going on inside my mind , though, and eventually longing of exploring that vast untouched beauty of nature, conquered. Now I was very firm to go there but still there were some questions what if father would come back early than me. So Manoj convinced me that he had visited that whole forest several times and he would get me back on time. So we had started to climb up. Basically being a Pahadi (A person who lives in hill area)  I never scared with wild animal as in my early childhood I had seen foxes, snakes, different type of lizard insects etc. and apart from that we were not going alone Manoj’s parents were also with us.

Manoj and I were going up very fast with full of enthusiasm and very soon we had left his parents very far behind. After continues walk of more than 45 minutes, we reached near a road namely Lariakanta road, it was not a common road but only for military vehicles. Adjacent of that road there were a small plain ground covered with mild green grass and decorated with white and yellow wild grass flowers. Birds were chirping like singing some melodious songs. I had never seen such a beautiful scene before. I was really overwhelmed with ineffable joy. All tiredness, due to nonstop climbing just vanished away, instantly. I sat down with Manoj and thanked to him to show me that heaven. Resting for five minute in that ground I stand up to enjoy beauty of the nature. When I saw it was like all hills covered with flowers of burans (Rhododendron arboretum) and it seemed I was in the top of the earth even sun was not in my level. Crystal clear breeze with a bit cold touch were passing through. I was getting goose bumps all over my body experiencing that heavenly pleasure. In one side Himalaya was shining and another side it was hill of Lariakanta seemed glorifying the Himalaya. I couldn’t believe in my eyes whether it was real or a dream. Besides that all vivid beauty of the nature there was one more thing and that was a peace, an ineffable peace.

Yes that was the Heaven.
